Download install and use HandBrake to rip the video from the DVD.
http://handbrake.fr/
Launch Handbrake. Take the finalized DVD out of the camcorder and put it in the drawer loading DVD drive in your Mac. Rip the video files to best quality and into a format FinalCut likes... like .mov, .mp4 ot .dv. After the files are converted, quit out of HandBrake and Launch FinaleCut. You should be able to drag/drop the video files into the log/capture area of FinalCut and treat them like any other video.
Hint: Do one file first to be sure it works - take the file all the way ionto FinalCut. If yes, then do the rest by setting up a batch of them.
Warning: DVD video files are compressed - a LOT. The video quality will not be very good. Hard disk drive (HDD) and flash memory camcorders are better (less compression than DVD based camcorders) and miniDV tape is best (least amount of compression).
