Canon DC310 is not showing video files on computer when put in the disk drive.?

  • Every time I put the DVD-RW disk in the computer, is shows up with three files: VR_MANAGER, VR_(something else), and VR_MOVIE. I am trying to upload a few videos from the camera, but the program Final Cut Pro will not upload anything but VR_MOVIE.VRO onto it. I did so, and the only video I got was the 1st one that I recorded. Is there a specific thing that I am supposed to do when attempting to upload these videos?

  • DVD based camcorders' video was never meant to be edited. Everything will be a work-around.

Download install and use HandBrake to rip the video from the DVD.

Launch Handbrake. Take the finalized DVD out of the camcorder and put it in the drawer loading DVD drive in your Mac. Rip the video files to best quality and into a format FinalCut likes... like .mov, .mp4 ot .dv. After the files are converted, quit out of HandBrake and Launch FinaleCut. You should be able to drag/drop the video files into the log/capture area of FinalCut and treat them like any other video.

Hint: Do one file first to be sure it works - take the file all the way ionto FinalCut. If yes, then do the rest by setting up a batch of them.

Warning: DVD video files are compressed - a LOT. The video quality will not be very good. Hard disk drive (HDD) and flash memory camcorders are better (less compression than DVD based camcorders) and miniDV tape is best (least amount of compression).
