This week:
Tuesday - 6.00 Aberdeen vs Berlin
Thursday - 6.00 Stuttgart vs Ventspils
Thursday - 6.00 Metallurg Donezk vs Bremen
Thursday - 8.15 Gomel vs Schalke
Did you see the game Olaf?
I could only listen and it sounded like the dons had most of the game, is that a fair assesment of it?
I saw most of it. Aberdeen probably had more ball possession and seemed to be a little superior. Both were unable to create many good scoring opportunities, I'd say both had about two or three.
Tuesday: 5.15 Hertha vs Aberdeen (ZDF); 10.15 recaps Haifa vs Leverkusen and Bayern vs Milan (RTL)
Wednesday: 8.15 Eindhoven vs Dortmund (RTL)
Thursday (national holiday): 3.15 Schalke vs Gomel (ZDF), 5.45 Bremen vs Donezk (ARD), 8.10 Ventspils vs Stuttgart (DSF)
I thought that the ref made the right decision, there was a clear foul before the goal. (Sorry if there was more than one annulled goal, i haven't seen the whole game).
It was this annulled goal, but in the replay you could clearly see that the player was tripping due to the bad pitch; Goor definitely did not foul in this situation.

I saw the whole match and would say that neither team really looked like they deserved to win. Aberdeen was maybe a little better, but not much. As for the non-goal, I thought it was a foul. Looked like he caught the defender's foot. My question was if the defender would have even gotten to the ball in time. Either way, 0:0 was a 'fair' result.

I still disagree with the foul scene, but it's okay. I saw 'Tagesschau' yesterday evening and was surprised that the serious announcer formulated "The referee costed Hertha the victory". :)
I agree with the rest of the statement though. Was a typical boring first round game: the underdog is trying to play a good game, but isn't really able to and the German site isn't playing better than necessary and just cares to get a good result (though this failed for Hertha yesterday).
Stuttgart at least played very nice, finally a team where you had the impression that they love to play on international stage. Balakov missed his third consecutive pk in the first half, but later on he said that it's a good omen as Stuttgart won all these game. Kuranyi was impressive though he could have scored some more.
shouldn't we wait to see if each one warrents such, otherwise stick with this thread until that arises?
Lineup:
Kiraly - Hartmann, Sverrisson, Friedrich, Madlung - Neuendorf, Dardai,Tretschok, Marcelinho, Goor - Luizao
Madlung is a twenty year old amateur without any pro game who has to play as all others defenders are injured.
Stuttgart is covered at 6.00 pm on ZDF.
Bremen is not covered.
Schalke is covered at 8.10 pm on DSF.
They got to increase the pace, Germany won ridiculous 0.75 points for the UEFA ranking so far.
Aberdeen vs Hertha 0-0
No pretty game, but this wasn't expected anyway. Bad luck for Hertha that a regular goal of Zecke was annulled.

Very strong first 10 minutes of Dortmund with an early lead scored by Koller. But then Borussia started to tremble for the rest of the game and Auxerre became the clearly better team. Amoroso relieved Dortmund in his first game after the injury before Auxerre came closer with seven minutes to go - seven further minutes of total trembling, but with lots of luck Dortmund collected Germany's first win in the Champions League this season.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Manchester United 1-2
Bayer was the stronger team, but ManU took the chances very well to have a comfortable 2-0 lead at HT (both goals van Nistelroy). Berbatov scored for Bayer soon in the second, but many good chances were not converted. Next week's game in Cyprus against Haifa must be won to have a chance to advance.
RC Lens vs Bayern Munich 1-1
Bayern started quite good, had some chances and scored by Linke. The second half belonged to Lens only and at the end Bayern must be very happy about this point. Next week against Milan Bayern is already under big pressure.
