We got her early Saturday morning, and as far as I know she has only used the litter box once. But I have seen her go in it a few times and she just scratches around in it and then when she acts like she is going to pee or poop she meows, and then does it a few more times. I think she has only eaten a little bit of wet food, and maybe a few pieces of dry food. Not sure if she has had any water or not. She also threw up once today, was not very much. But other then that she is acting like a playful kitten should act.Without seeing the cat or anyone being a vet, your best option is to take her to the vet.You could just not be seeing her use the litter box, eat, or drink. You may only observe a healthy cat eating and drinking once a day, because they are nocturnal. If a cat is stressed out, they can go days or weeks without eating or drinking. However, the stress would be apparent and you say she is acting playful like a kitten ought to. Therefore, I think she's probably eating, drinking, peeing, and pooping when you aren't looking - while you're asleep, out of the room, etc. And if she isn't, she'll begin to soon enough. They're picky animals, you know. I hope you enjoy your new member of the family. And happy holidays! What kind of litter do you have? Some kittens are overwhelmed but the strong oder of fancy cat litter. Start out with plain clay. She is doing the kitty dance it informs you of where she is. She will not blow up but if she is small enough you will find poop in unwanted places. If she is small enough to sit comfortably in you hand about 1 pound she may still be to young to have complete bowel control so have emergency boxes for her in the rooms she is in. If she is small she will taste many thing she shouldn't so watch her. If your worried about her eating share some of your meat with her. Then you can watch her eat and know for sure she is eating. She might be just fine, keep and eye on her, she is nervous and disoriented and a bit scare She isn't eating much but as she gets more use to her new home, she will be fine. She sounds like she could have an obstruction of some sort. It's best to get her to the vet as soon as possible because if that was the case, she can easily die quickly. The best suggestion is to take a newly adopted kitten (or cat) straight to the vet even before taking the cat home. That way, the cat has a clean bill of health, and you have set up a schedule for vaccinations and spay/neuter. And if your State has a pet lemon law, you have given yourself protection.
It is not uncommon for cats to become scared when they get into a new home. You might be seeing some of that. But for your own peace of mind, schedule a vet appointment.
Stress can cause problems in them using a litter box. Only a vet can tell.O'H!
I Hope She Recovers :(#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
