STOP! Documents! How much anxiety or fear do you feel when police stop you?

  • None at all

  • got stopped over 20 times in the period of a few years - never felt at all concerned except the first of those times - i had to stop the car in the pitch black in the countryside and reach for the tyre iron as i just could not shake the guy following me on lanes that no-one should have been driving on at that time - (my rear windscreen was frozen up - so i couldn't see behind ) when i realsied it was the cops and not some psycopath who was chasing me i was very relieved, i got pulled those 20 further times i think as i made the poor choice of informing the copper he scared the crap out me so badly that i'd put a tyre iron in my hand and was going to slap him and ask questions later. but you live and learn - eh?

  • I don't feel anything other than annoyance :)

  • I have only been stopped twice before by the police in twenty years of driving, but it is so overwhelming and scary for some reason. It kind of makes you feel uneasy and uncomfortable. Maybe its the uniform, or the fact that they are pretty formal, not sure, but yes, it does definately make me anxious for certain reasons...

  • I have never been stopped. Thanks God!

  • Lucky so far, never been stopped by any highway police patrol.
    Finger cross!

    Always obey the traffic rules.
Avoid any troubles and keep calm at all time.

  • Hello Stige, if I have all the documents in sequence, I do not feel any fear. Now, if the shutdown is so that it went to excess of speed and he was conscious of the same, then if that I perhaps put myself anxious and until tears they leave to me to see if therefore they give an opportunity me. Greetings.

  • non at all too, cause i am a good citizen. And i like the police does his work

  • I'm not doing anything wrong, so I don't have fear or anxiety. However, I do hate cops, so if anything, I would just be annoyed that I have to talk to one.

  • it depends on weather or not i am doing something wrong, or if i have drugs on me and/or in my system. lol

  • for some reason alot even if im sure ive done nothing wrong , i get all nerous and then they think i have done something, maybe cuz my bad track record but im a changed womon

  • The mind retains things that it deems to be valuable, significant and of some importance to life. The principle is followed most religiously at all time and the effects are always cumulative, and as we experience things that repeat themselves in our observation as when they actually do not happen directly to us, our mind become alert toward them as well, just as if they were more important that some more important things that happened less frequently.

We have in our mind the present of the concept of police, and at the same time, a possible or potential wrong doer, or a person who could do with police assistance at times. The mind regards police just as it should an emergence of some crisis, an accident or someone doing something terribly wrong. Then we can watch police in action, and as for the present times, this is not difficult to be the part of action through all efficient round-the â “clock television channels that broadcast news, mainly shocking and often involving police, documentaries, reality police chases, crime thriller and actions movies showing police in action the way ordinary person need not imagine or think about; all this have a cumulative effect on our mind, all this make us feel subconscious involved with whatever is going on around us. Then we all are programme and educated into certain fears and certain apprehensions, for the good of society of course.

Then as some police stops us asking for documents, intervene into the smooth running of our lives, or interrupt us with a warrant to search our person then the reaction we feel is usually more the what is suitable. In simple words we feel apprehended. Our mind runs like nothing else to ensure that we have not done anything wrong in the last twenty-four hours, in the last week, or month or even year. We are programmed to be fascinated and even attracted towards all that is might be tragic, sensational, criminal among our ranks and files, towards the activities of not only of the thief but also and even more so of police in the chase.

This however is also true but tragically hypotactic of us that while we enjoy all this we never want to be the on facing police in person. I knew all along that there was something wrong with us 'simple folks', and this I believe is it.

  • In my so many years of experience, I have so far been easily able to handle the Traffic Police. Only thing that I have learnt is they want their ego to be satisfied. If you talk to them with due respect for their uniform and position, they cooperate and let you off. This is the trick. You can also follow the same trick.

  • I`ve not been stopped for many years. The last time was in Leicester in the early hours of the morning, I was rushing my friend to Leicester Royal hospital after shutting his hand in my car door. Police stopped me for speeding, when I explained they let me go, my friend was bleeding quite badly. I was not asked to produce documents. Before that, I was stopped just after passing my driving test, I produced my documents at the local police station. I`ve never felt anxious when stopped by the police.

  • Well, In US, except in films, one is not bount to be scared of the cops.
One has to have a good comm. line and respect these fellows who are paid to work against crime and terror. In this Country you have--well known ----rights you can exert at any moment, unless they are--to a degree--guilty.
Well, it's not like Italy or in Europe. It's rather safe in USA.

    Ciao...John-John.-

  • I feel none. Act respectful, hand over your info, and give honest answers. It works out for the best. They are only doing their job.
