Upgrading to Office XP

  • I have Word 2000 Premier edition and I want to upgrade to XP. I have made loads of intricate macros, shortcuts and color coded icons. Will those be demolished (for lack of a better term) when I install XP? If so, is there some way I can save them and install them in XP?

Thanks for your help. You guys are GR-R-R-R-R-REAT!

  • How great, Much! I didn't know you were a woman! :)
Save your normal.dot file! Send it to yourself in an email 'cause floppies are terrible for safekeeping.

Read about normal.dot at www.theofficeexperts.com/word.htm to see why you need it.

After you get all situated, create one sample Word doc in the new version. Close Word out.

Find normal.dot that was created by Word as a result of doing that.

    Delete the new one.
    Replace it with YOUR normal.dot.
The only reason I have you create that normal.dot is so you can find where to put it. Otherwise, it's a complete dissertation...
