What is the diffrence of when a bumper is primed and non primed?

  • Prime will prevent rust, and the paint will stay on longer.

  • primer is needed before painting to prevent rust and help paint stick better

  • primed means you just have to paint it, not means you have to hit it with the primer first.

  • Plastic bumper? Primed means it can be scuff sanded then painted.Non primed means it needs thorough cleaning, watersanding, and a coat of flexible primer made for plastic. Then paint.

  • I know you've already gotten the answers about priming but just to add to it. I hope you're not planning on trying to paint it yourself. Unless you've got all of the professional equipment it will look like you did it yourself with a can of spray paint. If it's just the bumper that needs paint take just the bumper to the shop and let them do it, it will be less than $80.00 to get a paint job that looks like it came from the factory.
